It’s time again to take a peek inside my makeup bag – a peek at what’s new inside my makeup bag. I was recently sent a few beauty bits from Sigma and I decided to share some of my favourites from that delightful package, as well as a few other things I’ve been testing out. If you scroll all the way to the bottom you’ll see a pic of my face wearing the foundation, blush and liquid lipstick that I mention in this post. Oh yes, and in case you’re wondering, I used the Sigma blending brush to blend my eye shadow. Grab a cup of coffee, settle back into your chair and keep reading…
1. The Max Factor Crème Puff Blush is one of those much-discussed budget beauty products that everyone rushes out to buy as soon as it hits the shelves. I’ve even seen some overseas bloggers go as far as comparing them to Hourglass Ambient Blushes. I can’t vouch for that, but I can give you my thoughts on the Max Factor ones. They offer a multi-tonal, subtle wash of colour for cheeks that can be built up from subtle to sexy. These blushes are beautifully blendable and while my shade (lovely pink) is better suited to fairer complexions it can be built up enough to create a shimmery/highlighted effect. It’s soft, finely milled, baked and gives your cheeks a healthy pink glow. What more do you need? R120 at Clicks stores.
2. I’ve had my brush-loving eye on the Sigma E38 brush for ages now. What’s not to love about a brush that calls itself a “diffused crease” brush? Isn’t that the effect we’re all trying to achieve – a diffused/smoky shadow look? I’m not going to lie – this is officially my new favourite blending brush. This round-domed, soft brush softens eye shadow like a professional makeup artist would. It creates that perfectly diffused look that all of us love. You can purchase this brush ($16) as well as other Sigma products off their website. They offer free international shipping on orders $150+
3. Another new launch from Max Factor is the Miracle Match Foundation (R225.95 at Clicks). I haven’t stopped using this foundation since it arrived on my beauty desk. I’m smitten with the full coverage, smooth, even finish it offers. It blends seamlessly with your skin tone and melts like butter into skin. It doesn’t cling to dry patches and it doesn’t slide off your face at the first sign of heat. Yet, it still gives you that beautiful dewy finish that I love. I’m also kinda crazy about the light, barely there feeling it gives. Blur and nourish? Absolutely.
4. The second beauty product that I’ve been enjoying from Sigma is the Lip Eclipse liquid lipstick (in Rosette). This lip product can best be described as creamy and opaque. It applies smoothly and evenly and offers full colour after one swipe. As far as liquid lipsticks go this is one of my favourites. The lasting power is average – nothing special – but the shade certainly is special in my opinion. A perfectly muted pinky mauve shade that pairs well with a smoky eye. $17 on the Sigma website.
