{URGE TO SPLURGE} Philip Kingsley Hair Care

When I think of internationally renowned Philip Kingsley hair care products I usually think luxury and soft, healthy hair. A few years ago I tried the Elasticizer for the first time ever and I was hooked and last year I finally got to try a few more Philip Kingsley products when the PR fairies dropped off a large box of goodies on my doorstep. Quick Fact. Did you know that Philip Kingsley was the one who coined the phrase ‘bad hair day’? He’s been referred to as the ‘Hair Doctor’ and the ‘Hair Guru’. So basically this guy knows his stuff.

We all know my somber hair loss tale that has left my hair thin, lifeless and pretty meh so you can only imagine that I was over the moon when I read ‘Body Building’ on the labels of these products. My hair has always been fine. I used to have a lot of it but now it’s just fine as well as thin. Sad face. Anyway, this body building duo is ideal for fine hair that struggles to hold a style. If that sounds like your hair then I recommend reading through the rest of this review.

I’m a very visual person so I was instantly drawn to the packaging of the PK products. They are simple, pleasing to the eye and best of all they get straight to the point. Also, before I forget I need to mention the scent of this body building twosome. It gives you that salon, my hair-is-so-clean-I-can’t-stop-sniffing-it fragrance that lingers long after you step out the shower. I don’t know about you, but that’s pretty close to the top of my list of things I want out of  hair care goods. Both have a lightweight consistency that runs through nicely and rinses out easily. My hair is also more manageable and definitely has a bit of a bounce to it. But now onto the best bit. My hair feels  incredible after using these two. The kind of soft you see in hair commercials or on the neck of a Chinchilla. I believe you Mr.Kingsley, you certainly are a hair guru.

The world is smitten with Philip Kingsley’s Elasticizer and I’m not ashamed to admit that so am I. The interesting thing about this hair treatment is that you use it before your usual hair cleansing routine. This intensive pre-shampoo treatment was a first of its kind. The elasticizer does exactly what you think it would do. It adds elasticity and bounce. If you want to kick it up a notch you can work it into your hair, cover with a cap and leave for 20 minutes (or overnight) before rinsing out. When I wash the product out it leaves my hair so silky, nourished and shiny that it feels like I have a new head of hair. My hair isn’t seriously damaged or particularly dry, but the results are amazing. I even gave my sister a bit to try on her recently bleached/dyed hair and her response was ‘It left my hair as soft and smooth as silk’.

The Elasticizer boasts ingredients such as Olive Oil, Elastin and Glycerine which is great for moisture retention. Another fun fact for you. Philip Kingsley Elasticizer was originally created specifically for Audrey Hepburn who wanted a super-moisturising treatment that would repair her hair and keep it in great condition throughout the frequent colouring and styling done to her hair on movie sets.

If you’re interested in any of these products then take a look at the Philip Kingsley website. You will find the Body Building Shampoo (R419.95), Body Building Conditioner (R499.95) as well as the Elasticizer (R759.95).
