Skin Republic Collagen Infusion #SkinRepublicChallenge

4

I’m all about face masks, especially during Winter time when my skin is in desperate need of extra everything – moisture, brightening and exfoliation. However, sometimes I’m a bit lazy during the colder months and by the time Spring swings around I’m in a panic because my skin is feeling dry, dull and dehydrated. So you can only imagine my excitement when a parcel of Skin Republic Collagen Infusion face masks landed on my doorstep with instructions to take part in the #SkinRepublicChallenge. How can you turn down a challenge? I certainly can’t turn down a beauty challenge.  I used these mask for a full month and I’m here to share my thoughts with you.

These Skin Republic sheet masks are the collagen infusion ones and they claim to improve elasticity and smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. When you’re my age (almost 32) that’s all you want to read at the back of your face mask sachet. Heck, I wanna read that everywhere, even on the back of my box of cereal. Apparently I still have a few years before I need to seriously worry about collagen-reduction. Only at the age of 40 does natural collagen synthesis slow down. *wipes brow*.  Now I need to be upfront with you guys. I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with sheet masks. On the one hand these masks are ice-cold against your skin, they never fit your face properly and they’re incredibly awkward to wear. But on the other hand they’re saturated in a nutrient-rich serum that does wonders for your skin. All I know is that the latter always wins out over the former.

These Skin Republic masks are super easy to use and the best part is that there is probably more serum in the sachet then there is mask. Once you’ve worn the mask for the recommended time you can apply the leftover serum to your face, neck, décolletage and even your hands. Yes, that’s how much product is in there! During my month trial I used these masks every Monday and Thursday and after I removed the scary-looking sheet mask I let the serum work its magic overnight and I woke up the following day with softer, plumper skin. I was very impressed with how my skin felt. The serum does take an awfully long time to fully absorb so just be patient. However, the wait is well worth it.

The collagen infusion serum contains Natto Gum which is made from fermented soybeans. This doesn’t sound all that appealing but as a skincare ingredient it’s actually rated quite highly. It’s an antioxidant that’s known to increase moisture and elasticity in your skin. This serum also contains Witch Hazel and Vitamin E which both contribute to the overall appearance of your skin. I’ve noticed my skin is less dehydrated, it feels softer and looks healthier.  You can get your hands on these masks for R36.99 at Red Square, Edgars and Dis-Chem. They’re worth a try.
