As most of you already know I’m a girl on a budget. My blog basically encompasses all things affordable and obtainable. I’m always on the lookout for cheaper versions of the makeup, beauty and fashion things I love. It’s not always in the way of a dupe, but rather just a similar product that achieves a similar result. Today I’m going to share with you one of my fave LUSH skincare products and offer you guys a cheaper alternative.
The LUSH vanishing cream (R325) promises to help problem skin. It contains balancing lavender absolute, pore-tightening witch hazel (which helps eliminate blemishes) and grape seed oil to soften your skin. Vanishing Cream balances your skin and works wonderfully on oily skins or oily t-zones. It’s actually considered to be their best selling moisturiser. I’ve been using it for a while now and it’s super runny and light on your skin. It absorbs quickly and feels soft on your face. When I apply this at night my face feels and looks less shiny/oily in the morning and my breakouts have become less frequent.
A while ago a lovely reader sent me a hamper of goodies and this very simple little glass jar was included. This handmade Jasmin & Ylang Ylang face cream is from Soul Raw Beauty and sells for only R50. Just like LUSH, their products are free of chemicals, synthetic fragrances, animal products & unnatural colourants. This humble face cream has a thicker consistency compared to the Vanishing Cream, but it still sinks in as beautifully and leaves your skin just as soft. It has the same skin balancing abilities and will restore your facial skin if it’s feeling a bit dry or oily. The scent in my opinion is also very similar to the one from LUSH. The ingredient list is somewhat different, but after applying both of these at night (at separate times, of course) my face feels almost exactly the same immediately afterwards as well as in the morning. As far as ‘dupes’ go this isn’t an exact match, but it definitely offers similar skin balancing effects for one sixth of the price.
