{REVIEW} Ralo BB Cream

June 26, 2014

I was recently sent some Ralo products to test out including this BB cream, which is the thing that probably excited me the most. I’m an avid BB cream wearer as I’m not one to wear foundation every day, especially not in Summer. I like the light feeling that BB cream gives over a heavy foundation. I’m sure you guys are all familiar with BB creams by now seeing as we already have CC and even DD creams on the market. A BB cream is essentially a heavier tinted moisturiser with a few more added benefits like SPF and anti-oxidants. This budget-friendly offering from Ralo claims to prime, conceal and moisturise your skin.

The consistency is thickish, but still feels light enough when blending it in. And speaking of blending, it sinks in quite quickly and nicely. It feels soft on my skin and does a pretty decent job of covering up minor skin imperfections. I prefer to add a touch of concealer on top of my bb creams though to really even out my skin tone. My skin looks warmer, more even and feels nicely moisturised but not shiny in any way. It definitely offers a more matte finish so no powder is needed in my opinion. The tube does mention sunscreen, but there is no stipulation of how much anywhere on there unfortunately.

I will admit that I was a bit skeptical at first when I squirted out a very dark-looking blob of this bb cream. However, the shade ‘light’ actually did blend into my pale skin without it looking orange or oompa loompary. (see pic below). There are a ton of very affordable creams out there and I’ve had love affairs with several of them. But I think this non-oily addiction from Ralo is a very welcome addition and it can definitely compete with a few of the others that are in the same price bracket. This Ralo BB cream is available in more than just the usual ‘Light’, ‘Medium’ and ‘Dark’ variants. They offer a more diverse range for South African skins by adding a ‘Deep’ option to the mix for those with a very dark skin tone. How great is that?

It lasts for most of the day on my face and even when it starts to wear off my skin still feels covered enough. I think that price-wise these aren’t too bad. They usually sell for R69.50, but are currently online for R55.60. (50ml). I’m really glad to see another affordable option for us budget girls. This is definitely worth a shot, especially if you’re one of those non-foundation wearing girls. It feels light, soft and barely there.
