{REVIEW} MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle

I’m a  huge fan of glowing, healthy looking skin, which is why I’m a tad bit obsessed with Highlighters. If you can’t achieve the natural radiance all by yourself, or you’re not sporting that ‘pregnancy glow’ then the next best option is to fake it. This luxurious, velvet-soft metallic finish powder from MAC will help you do just that. Soft & gentle forms part of the Mineralised Skinfinish  family and up until now I’d only had liaisons with one member – Skinfinish Natural (see My Holy Grail Face Products post) But after witnessing magical things at the MAC Autumn/Winter 2015 Trend presentation a few weeks back I knew I had to give this beauty a try. MAC makeup artist Keagan Cafun knew exactly what he was doing while showing us the correct way to highlight when wearing the “On Reflection” trend. The best spots to highlight are above your cupids bow, brow bone, down the center of the nose, inner eye corner, in a triangle-shape along the sides of your forehead and on your cheekbone up towards your temple.

MAC’s Soft & Gentle is a swirl of marbleized gold, bronze, champagne and peachy shades. The consistency is silky and luxurious and offers a gorgeous universally-flattering luminous finish to your skin. The great thing about this finely-milled powder is that it gives you radiant, glowing skin without globs of glitter that might leave you looking like an extra out of  ‘Saturday Night Fever’. In one word I would describe this highlighter as ‘PERFECTION’. I might even be pushed into saying that this knocks my Mary lou-manizer off it’s holy-grail spot. It melts into your skin perfectly without looking too dewy or shiny. This might be a warm-toned highlighter but I’m convinced it suits all skin tones.

This domed-beauty is super pigmented and you only need a tiny bit on a brush or finger to achieve the desired amount of glow. MAC’s makeup magician, Keagan Cafun showed us how he likes to apply highlighter in the inner corner of the eye with a MAC 252 brush. But whatever your tool of choice is this powder blends like a dream. I know that for some of us MAC is a bit out of our budget, but if you’re going to splurge on a makeup item then let it be this. This one item can take your flat makeup into a new dimension. Um, can you guess that I’m loving this powder that much? Gosh, I’m even gushing. Pop into your nearest MAC store or try a bit of online shopping.

The MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Soft & Gentle highlighter goes for R350 and is well worth it. What other MAC products do you love and highly recommend?
