My Winter Nails ♥

June 24, 2014

There are only a few things I really like about Winter. These are hot chocolate, a warm blanket, bubble baths, Yankee candles, reading in bed and finally the beautiful nail colours that come out to play when the weather turns cold. I always seem to have certain colours that I gravitate towards every Winter so I thought I would share a few of my current faves. I haven’t added black or dark blue to the mix because I’m actually still searching for the perfect ones. Any suggestions?

I’ve really been loving Essie polishes lately and I honestly can’t get enough of their brushes and formula. I used Essie years ago and never really had much luck or love for them but last year a friend re-introduced these to me and I’ve been hooked ever since. I also have a very special place in my heart (he,he) for Mavala. Their little bottles are magic. They apply smoothly and dry super fast.

Anyway, onto my nail colour must-haves for Winter. I absolutely have to have a dark red or burgundy shade in my collection. I love Essie’s ‘Macks’ polish, but I also love Maybelline’s Color Show in ‘Burgundy Kiss’ for an even darker, moodier look. When I’ve had enough of vampy nails I also sometimes enjoy wearing a lighter khaki shade, like Mavala’s Khaki Vintage, or a Taupe colour like Essie’s Glamour Purse. I never used to wear a soft (but muted) purple during Winter but Essie’s new Warm & Toasty Turtleneck recently introduced me to that possibility. It’s a beautiful purple that just instantly warms you up . Another recently added addiction to my collection, not colour, but polish-wise is the ever-popular Bahama Mama from Essie. This is the absolute perfect plum shade that really suits my pale skin. This is by far my fave Winter colour. I also can’t get through Winter without a dark grey or gunmetal shade and this stunning metallic polish (Over the Top) from Essie is ideal. I picked this one up on sale recently for only R50. Bargain, hey?

So tell me, what are your favourite Winter shades? I would love some recommendations as well!
