As far as I’m concerned, yesterday was Christmas day. I know we all utter the same hackneyed words every single year – “Oh gosh, where has this year gone”. But something feels different for me this year. It feels like I went to sleep on New Years Eve and woke up yesterday morning. This sudden consciousness sparks a mixed bag of feelings. The emotion that’s bubbling over the top is panic. It feels like I’ve wasted almost 6 months of this year, but I also need to stop and remind myself that while it might seem like I stepped into a time machine, I actually did manage to achieve a few goals during this period. As part of my 2016 ‘awakening’, I decided to share a BIG mid-year giveaway with you guys. I’m giving away two hampers filled with various brands and products. I’ll be selecting two lucky readers to win. Woohoo!

2016: I have made so many goals over these years, and got lost in it so many times that I forgot to look and appreciate the smaller things in life.
So my goal was(stil is) to do what makes me happy, to stop fussing over matters that will will work out the way its meant to be. I found out that I have Pcos, so the endless “stalking and cross questioning” when we starting axfamily really got to me. So my goals changed and I went from a size 29/30 to 24 and I found my “calm”
Dont ever feel you wasted 6months of a year , the lessons you learnt is a boost to motivate you to be aware and not exclude yourself from important moments…
So here is to the last 6 months of 2016, be happy
C’est La Vie
2016 is my year to get fit and become a healthier me. I have clocked up 200 km walking daily since January and have lost 5 kg’s and a lot of centimeters. I feel energized and less stressed in general. Highly recommend this to all couch potatoes like me! ? ?
As a 30 something Mum, wife, student and pet owner.. I am happy to report that I have achieved my goal…a degree in Psychology. Let me tell you it’s been blood sweat and tears literally but my hard work has paid off. Try being a ‘mature’ student with so many barriers. I plan to specialise in Educational psychology as I have a child who is Autistic. Yeah the drama never ends. The thing is..this brilliant child inspired me to achieve my dreams and to really make a difference. I am so glad that I gave up on a dead end job that was eroding my dreams many years ago. Watch out world here comes a diva with lipgloss and she is about to change the world. Her way.
P.S Have tweeted about this awesome giveaway( @anishasingh007)
It seems silly but I have developed a love affair with makeup… at 33! I used to quickly add some mascara if it was a special occasion so it was a big deal this year when I got colour matched for the perfect foundation and started doing my face every day. ??
In 2016 I have achieved my learners and a full time time job which I thank God because without him I wouldnt be where I am today.
I’m training hard and competing in trail running.
It’s half way through the year already.
To be honest this has been year of HUGE changes for me. After being at home for over ten years as wife and mother, but with most of that time lost to Bipolar disorder I made the huge decision to go back to university and study to follow my dream of becoming a Somatologist. There were many obstacles and so many more fears, like would I manage?would the stress set of a manic/depressed episode? Would I need to be admitted during the course of my studies? Would I cope as a student, a mother and a wife without breaking?
Thankfully I have an amazing support structure and the most understanding doctor behind me, to boost me and keep me stable. I have been not only managed to go thus far without any episodes, but have become more stable and I am by far excelling with achieving distinctions in all my papers so far.
I am only halfway throygh the first of three years so I know I have a ways still to go, but I am not scared anymore. Only excited at what the future holds.
To feel this way for the first time since the year I got married is indeed a gift from God almighty
I set my goals from paper to paper. And I will continue to do so till the day I have my qualifications in my hands
I upped my fitness levels by a lot this year and it feels great ! I am where I want to be . I feel more motivated and happy to carry out this lifestyle throughout 2016 and beyond ! Shared on Twitter @LittleMissLee86
I perfected the most amazing Melktert recipe! π
I’ve Made the decision to be healthier. I have lost weight and back at the gym.
I have slowly but surely learned to put myself first and that’s such a big thing for me. I am a wife and mother and have always “neglected” my own wellbeing in my attempt to be the best wife and mother I could be, but then realised that I cannot do that if I don’t take care of myself first.
To save my money and shop less
To save my money and shop less lol
My goal this year was to spend more time with my kids and to put my health first by eating clean and following a better beauty routine.
Having been unemployed for such a long time My only goal was to find employment and take care of my financial needs. I’m super excited to have found an awesome job. Goal achieved But I’m already setting the next.

I finished my course with a distinction ?
Started a gratitude journal and write down 3 things I am grateful for every night!
the goal I am most proud of is moving out a this year – ive been living with my parents for 26 years, its been really tough to leave the nest and do things on my own , lol I have abit of separation issues im so close with my parents so it was a big step for me, but I finally did it π I feel like a real adult now hehe , it was hard the first few weeks but now im loving it and still speak to my parents every day so it is awesome! im proud of myself for taking this step , I saved up money for a few years so that when I moved out I had a full house with every thing I need inside π its perfect
Fantastic. Well done on taking such a big step. π
Lifestyle change! My eating habits have been healthier and Ive lost cm’s
My goal of living a healthier life is well under way.
Ive been exercusing, eating well, doing walks and fun runs.
Cut iur carbs and sugar
I started the year at 81kgs, I now down to 74kgs
I finally wrote my learners test, passed. I’ve now started my driving lessons.
My goal is to save up money so i i can pay for my baby cousin’s varsity fees
My small goal was to try be kinder to myself, I take it day by day π
The biggest Goal was to pay off all my debt and live debt free. I did it, and it feels great, sometimes when my cash flow is low and I’m in real need of some retail therapy it gets hard but then I remember the joys of not having any clothing accounts etc that just seem to eat away at your budget. My husband is so proud of me and so am I. I am a real shopaholic so this for me was really tough but so worth it in the end!
I have finally registered to complete my criminal psychology degree. After getting my degree I had my kids(3 boys) and the studies took a back seat. My boys are still young(youngest is 4) but even though it has been such a long time it is a big deal to me to try to complete my masters.
One of my goals for 2016 is to make photo albums – Even though I obviously have Facebook, every year I order prints of my favourite photos off a photo printing website. However, for the last few years they’ve just sat in a box. I’ve now ordered some of those massive photo albums from Amazon and sat for a few days and made the albums. There’s something just so satisfying about sitting flicking through real life albums rather than on my computer.
I quit a job that was no longer serving me. It seems counter productive, but I know that better things are coming.
Growing my blog π
WOW This is an Awesome Giveaway @Lipglosskisses π One major goal I achieved the beginning of this year was paying the final installments on my car loan and my last payment on my clothing account, now Im saving all that money towards our deposit on our first home, hopefully at the end of this year we would have achieved that goal aswell! Super Excited for that! π <3
I finally got my learners licence. It’s been a long time since I last had it and my goal is to get my drivers licence before the end of the year.
Congrats x
My goal was to cook and bake more often as a hobby and I really have! Enjoy it so much and it works as a stress reliever for me?
So far I achieved in 2016 my dream of going to Paris in August, lots of saving to be done but I am getting there and it is a lifetime dream of mine that is going to come true
Thus far I am reaching my goal of losing weight, Keeping fit, staying Active & following a healthy Lifestyle. Being positive & optimistic, maintaining a healthy weight with no Fad dieting and diet pills. Once a week, I turn off the TV and do something a little more physical with my family. Playing games, taking a walk, exercising, doing household chores…almost anything will be more active than sitting on the couch. I try to eat balanced food groups everyday and minimize sugars and carbs. My daily diet includes drinking lots of water, having plenty of vegetables, fruit, whole grains and other high fibre foods . I ensure that I have plenty of restful sleep. I focus on healthy eating and healthy active living. Being healthy to me, means taking care of myself, body and mind; achieving a balance in the day-to-day and feeling good about the choices I make for myself on a regular basis. Balancing my life between work, home and rest/recreation leads to a balance of mind and body. Finding exercises I enjoy, eating healthy foods that make me feel good, spending time with people I love and most importantly staying positive and being happy!
I’ve got my poem published on “The Poetry Daily” (overseas) – it’s a poem that i’ve written about nail polish (Valentines poem)
This made me so happy, since this was one of the items on my bucket list.
Swam the Midmar Mile in Feb this year π
This year I had to return to work after quite a few years at home with babies! It is a daily challenge with a job and young brood, and everyday I aim for survival in many cases! So one could say I achieve my goal everyday as I am still here and sane! ( most days) lol
My goal which Iβve achieved in 2016 so far is my university degree .
Goodness. ….I have to think about this. I actually decided no goals this year…. no resolutions.
I guess if I think about something I hoped I’d do this year, it was to reclaim my health. I was into fitness and diet and lost 30kGs. After a horrid pregnancy last year….I just let myself go after I had the baby. I was moping around feeling fat and ugly, then I realised people would see me the way I felt. I decided I’d dress better, wear make up, paint (and alway glitter!) My nails….just put some effort into me. And even though I’m losing the weight slowly. … I don’t care…I feel good about me, no matter what the number on the scale π
Awesome giveaway!
The last two years have been a bit of an emotional mess in my life with the death of my mom & just being super stressful – I kinda lost myself. So this year I promised myself I was going to do what makes me happy – so I resigned from my job to start doing something that makes me happier, I ditched the ex & I am making more time for me. 2016 hasn’t been easy but I’d rather say I tried then I regret π
Awesome reading everyone else’s comments too ?
I’m sorry about your loss. π I also decided to make this year about me. I also ditched the ex and like you, 2016 hasn’t be easy but I agree that it’s better to try. π
Gave up alcohol
My business (aftercare) is doing much better this year
2016 has been really good to me so far and regardless of my circumstances I have made some life changing decisions. Over the past few weeks I have completely changed my mindset which was no walk in the park as I’ve been quite a negative, depressed person all my life. As hard as it was it is completely worth it, it’s worth feeling fantastic everyday of your life, life is meant to be enjoyed fully and it feels phenomenal to spread joy and love everywhere you go. I am a stay at home job and while my husband has a great job we still have to live on a tight budget, that used to depress me so much because we simply can’t afford anything for ourselves but with this new mindset of mine I’m focusing much more on what we have instead of what we don’t. I count my blessings every single day of my life and feel gratitude for everything and everyone around me! 2016 has been my best year yet, I am so happy and proud of the person I am now β‘
Good for you!!! Here’s to many more happy moments in 2016 π
Thank you, I’m so excited to see what the rest of the year and my life for that matter holds in for me, very excited about the future x
My goal for this year was to get every morning with a positive mindset and so far so good!!
This year I needed to be alot more calmer. Got rid of some baggage and I put aside time for myself to meditate and enjoy me time. It’s being going so well and enjoy life that I even adopted a puppy π
Started at the young age of 41 to wear make up!! Also have now lost 2 out of 6 kgs and broke my routine of being lazy. Now able to run walk 7km 3 times a week. Long may it last!
I was just telling my best friend yesterday how I cannot believe how fast the year was going :O My biggest goal for 2016 was to get into Masters (check ;)) and also to try and be a better person every day- whether it’s stopping myself from being negative about myself, or even about others, being kinder to everyone, thinking before I speak and so on π
I got a bursary to study further at the tender age of 41, ha ha ha
I finally gathered the funds (and time) for renovations! My living space and bedroom is now de-cluttered and oh-so-organised! Yay for being able to find inner peace again at home!
Very recently landed my first job in my studied career path. HELLO BIG GIRL PANTIES π
I’ve always wanted to do a fitness shoot even though I haven’t been “fit” for almost a year and I’ve done it! The pictures look amazing and I actually look like I know what I’m doing. My big goal is to either move to Mauritius or Zanzibar and I’m currently working on that, fingers crossed xoxo
I took the plunge and sent out my cv for new job prospects… Been to a few interviews, so hopefully a new job awaits me soon.
I have finally started getting fit – I have always said that I have to do it, but always been too lazy to start – but 5 weeks ago I joined the GetFit Twelve week challenge and I have been diligent ever since! It has been very challenging – boot camp always is, but I have stayed motivated and I am going the full monty on this one – I am taking back my health!!! Tweeted @Roxi_23
I am a 3rd year Varsity student studying for my Civil Engineering Degree so my top goals achieved this year have been to study hard and achieve top marks in my mid year exams…one more exam to write this Friday and then taking time to relax over the holidays. Sold our bigger house and bought a smaller one. …to be nearer family #huge achievement
