Inspired by 165 years of apothecary mastery, Kiehl’s have rolled out a new service to suit all your skincare needs. We live in a world where you’re able to customise your own Sims character, heck, as humans we’re even in the process of genetically modifying babies and customising them like a checklist of grocery items. So why shouldn’t we have the ability to personally customise our skincare products to best fit and help rectify our skin issues? Kiehl’s have created just that – a service which is personalised to each customer, with a mix of ingredients selected through consultations and diagnosis with a Kiehl’s consultant. This service is currently up and running at Kiehl’s Sandton City as well as Kiehl’s V&A.
Kiehl’s are targeting what they consider the five biggest skin concerns which most people struggle with – wrinkles texture, redness, enlarged pores and dullness. During your Kiehl’s consultation, you’ll be asked to fill in a quick survey to focus on skin concerns which bother you. The great thing about this service is that you don’t have someone telling YOU what you need, you’re telling THEM what you need. Your survey results are captured on a digital application, which reveals what your two biggest concerns are and in turn which two targeted complexes will be the perfect combination for you. I was given the ‘Wrinkle Reducing’ and ‘Texture Refining’ complexes to mix in with the skin strengthening concentrate which comes standard with your purchase.
When you get home you’ll be mixing your personalised potion yourself. Don’t worry, it’s very easy and all instructions are clearly marked on the box. It takes a minute or two before your customised serum is ready to shake up (cocktail style) and be used for the first time. In case you’re wondering, which I’m sure you are, the serum, with consultation included, will set you back R1,495.
My personal concoction contains retinol concentrate & pro-retinol in the ‘Wrinkle Reducing’ complex and an unsaturated fatty acid blend of vitamin F & LHA vitamin F from the ‘Texture Refining’ complex. The ‘Skin-Strengthening Concentrate’, which forms the base of each and every serum is composed of a 35% concentration of squalane and a 20% skin lipid complex to fortify, hydrate, and protect the barrier of the skin. So, what do I ultimately think of the serum? I love it. My skin has improved considerably in regards to texture, smoothness and plumpness. This is a high-preforming and potent product and yields a result. My skin feels happy and healthy – smooth and hydrated. The oily consistency takes a few minutes to sink into your skin, but the scent and feel of the product will distract you from that little fact. R1,495 at Kiehl’s Sandton City and Kiehl’s V&A.
