Fashion Flares – “Mirrored fuchsia glitter” is how Essie describes this top coat. This blend of fuchsia bar glitter and various sizes of black hexagon glitter is my favourite of the four. In the swatches (above) I layered this one over a dark purple shade, but I think this would also look beautiful worn over a light pink. As with all these confetti-type top coats you’ll need about three coats to achieve a ‘full’ effect.
Frilling me Softly – Essie calls this one “a charming blend of platinum & cobalt”. When these top coats arrived this was the one that immediately caught my eye. The silver sparkle is exceptionally striking. This luxe effect top coat contains silver bar glitters mixed in with a few metallic blue hexagon shapes. I haven’t really picked up on the blue, but I think if you layered it over a blue polish you might pick up some of those blue hues. Imagine this over a navy polish like Style Cartel.
Tassel Shaker – Essie calls this a “precious copper & bronze” top coat. What a stunner! I feel like this could work over any shade. It’s such gorgeous mixture of gold and bronze. This one reminds me of little strings of tinsel that you would hang up on the Christmas tree. This one also has a boho vibe which I’m particularly fond of – dancing with feathers in your hair. I need to add that as with all of these the glittery pieces are suspended in a clear top coat and they apply smoothly and evenly.
Fringe Factor – “A mischievous mix of gunmetal & pink” is what Essie has to say about this one. This might be the most unusual shade of the four. However, I wasn’t able to really capture the beauty of it in a photograph. The grey and rose gold (yes!) bar glitters look stunning over any shade. This one is sure to liven up any manicure. I’ve really been loving how smoothly these apply – no grittiness or chunkiness in sight.
You can pick up the Essie Fringe Luxe Effect top coats at selected Dis-chem, Clicks and Foschini stores for R124.95. Now tell me something – which one is your favourite?
