{I’ve Tried That} ♥ Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Masque

If you had to take a peek inside my bathroom you would find a shelf dedicated solely to face masks – rows and rows of creamy formulas, sheets, exfoliating powder mixes, mud packs and gel peel-off masks. The answer to your question is a resounding yes – I do use all of these masks. In my opinion, a well cared for women (or metrosexual man) should have the ability to select a mask for that particular day to suit their specific needs. The same way you would decide on your favourite pair of shoes to compliment your outfit for that day. A charcoal-based mask, such as this one from Dermalogica, will purify and detoxify your skin.

5 Favourites Friday ♥

1.  Up until about a year or so ago I avoided Tea Tree oil like a fat kid trying to steer clear of vegetables. The strongly scented essential oil and my skin just didn’t mix. Whenever I applied products containing Tea Tree oil it would have the opposite of the desired effect. It would make my skin break out instead of helping to clear it up. As you can imagine that’s a very puzzling and frustrating position to be in. Inevitably, this led to my outright hatred of the oil. But fast forward a year and a slow reintroduction back into my skin regime, Tea Tree oil finally left me with positive results. My latest favourite is this 3-in-1 cleanser/scrub/mask from The Body Shop. The packaging, the scent and the actual product are fresh and an absolute delight. When my hormones are raging and my skin is going along for the ride, I whip out this tube and leave the creamy  cleanser on my skin for 5 minutes to help rid my skin of pesky impurities. It does the job and helps dry out blemishes without over-drying the rest of my skin. R140 at The Body Shop

First Impression: Skincare

There are certain things in life that might shock you – waking up to someone standing over your bed, finding broken glass in your food or seeing a dog walk on two legs. But nothing will shock you into silence quite like the state of my “Currently Testing” area. I call it an area because these products aren’t neatly confined to a drawer or cupboard. Instead, they are scattered throughout the house in complete and utter disarray.

The sad part is that while I’m lucky enough to be sent mountains of products I’m only able to feature a select few on the blog. I do the best that I can, but wistfully, products will always fall through the cracks. I also have this habit of only mentioning products that I’ve enjoyed using. I would rather focus on the positive and disregard the negatives. But it’s important for me to share both types of reviews to keep you, as the reader, informed on the products you should add to your shopping basket or completely avoid. With all this being said I’m going to try my utmost to share “First Impression” posts on a regular basis. That (hopefully) means more content, which in turns means more featured products.

New in From Benefit

If healthy, clear skin is a dream come true then shiny, enlarged pores can definitely be considered a waking nightmare. But if the former eludes you then never fear because that’s where these two new offerings from Benefit step in. I’ve been testing out their newly launched The POREfessional  ‘Matte Rescue’ and ‘Instant Wipeout Masks’ and I’m here to share the good, the bad and the ugly.
