I’m not going to lie. As a beauty blogger there are certain emails that arrive in your inbox that excite you more than others. The email I recently received from BABOR was one of those that instantly put a smile on my face. The email outlined an opportunity to experience a facial at the new BABOR beauty spa in Waterkloof, Pretoria. I must add that the last part excited me the most. As a Pretoria girl I’m always driving/Gautraining to events in Johannesburg. I readily accepted the invitation and last week I arrived at the BABOR spa ready to indulge in a morning of pampering with my favourite skincare brand.
The spa is light and bright and beautifully decorated. These are the first things you notice as you walk through the welcoming entrance. The shelves are packed full of BABOR products, side tables are enhanced by orchids/roses and chairs are adorned with comfortable scatter cushions. The words that came to mind when I walked in were “luxurious but inviting”. After being welcomed at the door I was ushered into a tranquil spa room complete with dimmed lights, fluffy towels and Ferrero Rocher chocolates. Spoiled brat! The treatment that I was treated to was the classic BABOR method facial (R400). This 60 minute treatment involves various steps of cleansing, vitalizing masks, a compress technique, lotions and even a face/mini-neck massage.
I need to mention that between the mask drying time I was also treated to a 15 minute hand and foot massage. My therapist, Stephina has what I like to call magic hands. She was able to relax my over-active, control freak brain within minutes of applying the products to my skin. The experience can best be described as a sensory delight. The product fragrances combined with the dimly lit room and soft massage is absolutely heavenly. If I could experience this every day I would. Oh a girl can dream. A few of the products that were used on my skin included the BABOR Cleansing HY-ÖL (R422), BABOR Sensational Eyes Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream (R915) and the BABOR Perfect Combination Daily Mattifying Cream (R932). If I have to sum up my experience in a sentence it would be – “A relaxing and reinvigorating facial in beautiful, serene surroundings that left my skin feeling soft, happy and revitalized”.
If you pop into the BABOR spa at Waterkloof corner you’ll be able to purchase any of their amazing products and peruse their extensive treatment menu which not only includes the facial I had. You can also choose from various other facials (including men treatments), Doctor BABOR treatments, body shaping, eyelash tints, eyebrow shaping, waxing, massages, manicures, pedicures, nail art, acrylic nails and gel nails.
