12 Wishes Of Lipgloss KISSmas ❄ Day 7 – Merry & Bright Skin

December 17, 2014

All I want for Christmas is YOU. Nope, just joking. What I really want is clear skin. I think that’s something we all wish for all year round. I’ve been trying out two new skin products and I thought it was the perfect time to share my thoughts on these and let you in on whether they’re on the naughty or nice pile. Spoiler alert. They were both very good this year.

I recently attended the Sorbet Skin Show and this exciting new daily skin polish powder made an appearance on my 5 Favourites Friday that same week. If you watched that video then you know that I was super excited to have been introduced to this skin polisher and I was so excited that I even featured the product without having even tried it yet. But of course that has now changed. I’ve been using it religiously and I can happily report back that this will definitely leave you with ‘Merry & Bright Skin’. The thing that instantly intrigued me was that it looked like a dupe for Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant. It’s certainly the only other powder-based skin polisher that I’ve used and my untrained eye can barely see a difference. The only difference is the price. The Sorbet version is only R220. Winning!

If you want clear and bright skin then exfoliation is a very important step in your skincare routine. This offering from Sorbet is formulated with pore-cleaning ingredients like salicylic acid, rice powder, grapefruit, lavender plus vitamins A, C and E. The best bit though is that this micro-exfoliator is super gentle on your skin. It’s a powder that doesn’t feel rough or abrasive which is a must for sensitive skins. Mix about a teaspoon with a bit of water, work into a paste and massage into your skin. My skin feels softer, smoother, brighter and more ‘glowy’ after each use. I love it.

Another skin treat that I’ve been trying out is the Lipidol Cleansing Face Oil (R79.95). I recently picked this one up in Clicks because I couldn’t resist the clean, simple, transparent packaging. This oil-based cleanser is supposed to remove makeup and impurities without stripping your skin of it’s natural oils. This year I’ve been all about cleansing oils and let me tell you something – they work. Like dissolves like. You’re removing all the dirty, unwanted oils (makeup) from your face and replenishing it with clean, nourishing oil. I even use this Lipidol one on my eyes because it’s that effective at removing all traces of makeup. It’s suitable for sensitive skin and it’s non-comedogenic. But you know what really rocks my world? The scent. It has a very refreshing ‘herb-like’ scent which can be attributed to the Rosemary and Niaouli essential oils. It also contains Salicylic Acid which we all know is great for unclogging pores. I see merry, merry skin in your future…
